Citroen Basalt: What to expect?
Citroen Basalt is based on the C3 Aircross. This means it shares a lot of styling cues from the midsize SUV. The front fascia of the crossover looks very similar to its SUV counterpart. The only difference is the finish on the grille inserts. Basalt’s profile is marked by its sloping roofline, which gives it a coupe-like look. It features diamond-cut alloy wheels. The plastic cladding on the wheel arches receives a matte finish. At the back, the crossover gets wraparound halogen tail lamps and a faux skid plate.
Inside, the Citroen Basalt receives a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, contoured headrests, and additional storage underneath the centre console. Surprisingly, the sunroof is missing from the crossover SUV.
Citroen Basalt will share its powertrain with the C3 Aircross. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. On the C3 Aircross SUV, this engine offers a mileage of 18.5 kmpl.
