Tata Altroz CNG: Everything you need to know

The CNG powertrain is available only for the XE, XM+, XZ, and XZ+ trims of Tata Altroz. Cosmetically, Tata Altroz CNG looks exactly the same as the regular model, except for the ‘CNG’ branding on the tailgate. What sets Tata Altroz CNG apart from its competitors is the dual-cylinder setup in the boot compartment. These twin cylinders with an individual capacity of 30 litres have been placed underneath the boot floor, in the space wheel section. This has helped the hatchback recover a lot of free space in the boot compartment.

In terms of features, the Tata Altroz CNG gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a voice-controlled electric sunroof, leatherette seats, cruise control, automatic headlamps and more. The CNG model has a gas leak detection feature and a micro switch to ensure the car is switched off while it is being refuelled. The hatchback is offered in four colour options – Opera Blue, Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, and Avenue White.

Powering the Tata Altroz CNG is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power output of 77hp and 97Nm or torque in CNG mode. In a petrol configuration, this engine puts out 86hp of power and 113Nm of torque. The CNG model comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Conclusion

The regular model of Tata Altroz scored an impressive 5-star rating at the GNCAP tests under old testing protocols. Tata is offering the Altroz CNG with a 3-year/100,000 km warranty. It is expected to cost at least Rs 90,000 more than its petrol-powered sibling. Upon launch, Tata Altroz CNG will rival Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG.
