Citroen Basalt: Everything you need to know
The front fascia of Citroen Basalt is identical to the C3 Aircross SUV. The only difference is that the crossover gets additional inserts on the grille. The key difference lies in the profile of the two cars. The Basalt’s sloping roofline gives it the coupe look. On top of that, Citroen has also tweaked the design of the alloy wheels and the LED tail lamps on the Basalt and given it a beefy rear bumper.
The dashboard layout of Citroen Basalt is similar to that of the C3 Aircross. It gets a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, contoured headrests, and additional storage underneath the centre console. Surprisingly, the sunroof is missing from the crossover SUV. In terms of safety, the crossover gets features like six airbags, ESC, TPMS, and a rear parking camera.
Citroen Basalt is available in two engine options. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 110hp and 190Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox (where it produces 205Nm of torque). On the C3 Aircross SUV, this engine offers a mileage of 18.5 kmpl. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine puts out 82hp and 115Nm. This engine can only be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Conclusion
There are five colour options available for the Basalt – Steel Grey, Polar White, Garnet Red, Cosmo Blue, and Platinum Grey. Citroen may launch an all-electric version of the crossover to compete with the Curvv EV and MG Windsor EV in the future. As of now, the Citroen Basalt rivals the Tata Curvv ICE along with the existing midsize SUVs.
