Bookings open for Volkswagen Tiguan R Line, specs and colours revealed

Volkswagen India has opened the booking window for the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line. The booking amount has been set at Rs 25,000. The SUV will launch in India on April 14. The automaker has also revealed the SUV’s mechanical specs and the colour options on offer. The Tiguan R Line will be imported to India via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route. This will add a significant premium to its price.

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line: Everything we know so far

The Volkswagen Tiguan R Line stands at dimensions of 4539mm x 1859mm x 1656mm and has a 2,680mm wheelbase. The R Line model focuses on sporty aesthetics. It will be made available in 6 monotone colours: Persimmon Red Metallic, Cipressino Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White with Mother of Pearl Effect, and Oyster Silver Metallic.

Inside, the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line will get a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The touchscreen infotainment system will run the latest MIB4 OS and will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features will include sports seats, ambient lighting, steering-mounted controls, a dual-zone climate control system, and more. The sporty SUV will also get an ADAS package.

The Volkswagen Tiguan R Line will be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This engine can produce a maximum power output of 204hp and 320Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The SUV will also get Volkswagen’s 4Motion AWD system. It can go from 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds, with the top speed capped at 229kmph.

With the Tiguan R-Line we are introducing the epitome of sharper performance, bigger spaces, stronger safety systems and much more in an SUV, that has been designed to turn heads. The wait for owning a Tiguan R-Line is nearly over as today we commence pre-bookings for a SUVW that has been captivating customer aspirations. From today we are also inviting customer interest for the Golf GTI, a legend from Volkswagen that needs no introduction.”

Final Thoughts

The regular Volkswagen Tiguan is priced at Rs 38.17 lakh in India. We expect the R Line model to fetch up to Rs 50 lakh. Volkswagen has also announced that it will bring the Golf GTI to India in the 3rd quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the Tiguan R Line will rival the BMW X1, Volvo XC40, Mercedes Benz GLA, and Audi Q3 in India.
