The new Yamaha XSR155 has finally been launched in India. It is priced at Rs 1.50 lakh. The retro motorbike is powered by the same engine as the Yamaha R15 and MT15. The key changes on the XSR155 lie on the cosmetics and styling fronts. It undercuts the MT15 by Rs 5,000. It is available in a single variant. Yamaha XSR155: Everything you need to know

The XSR155 follows Yamaha’s philosophy of combining modern retro design with innovative tech and sport aesthetics. It features a classic round LED headlight and tail light, a 10-litre teardrop fuel tank, and a traditional LCD panel that embodies Yamaha’s iconic design language. The motorbike borrows the lightweight and well-balanced ‘Deltabox’ frame from the MT15 and R15. The 17-inch wheels lend it an agile stance. The XSR55 comes in 4 paint shades – Metallic Grey, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic, and Metallic Blue. There are 2 accessory packs on offer – Scrambler and Café Racer.

The XSR155 is powered by the same engine as the Yamaha R15 and MT15. This 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) generates a maximum power output of 18.4hp at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm torque at 7,500rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The motorbike features upside-down front forks and linked-type monocross rear suspension. There’s dual-channel ABS and Traction Control on board for safer rides.

Mr Itaru Otani, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said, “India is central to Yamaha’s global growth strategy — a market where we see immense potential across both premium and electric mobility segments. The introduction of the XSR brand, our new EV models and the FZ-Rave mark a decisive step in strengthening our presence and aligning with India’s evolving mobility landscape. With these launches, we are deepening our connect with riders who seek performance, design, and technology, while also responding to the nation’s transition towards sustainable transportation. Our focus remains on creating value in India — through products built for its diverse customers, supported by India’s vision of Viksit Bharat and guided by Yamaha’s global Environmental Plan 2050.”
