Last year, Ather Energy announced its new flagship scooter, 450 Apex. The EV startup started accepting bookings for the Ather 450 Apex in December, with the official launch taking place in January 2024. Ather 450 Apex: What’s on offer?

Ather 450 Apex retains the design language of the 450X but gets some new cosmetic highlights. The translucent body panels of the electric scooter give a glimpse of the orange chassis structure. The 450 Apex is available in a new ‘Indium Blue’ paint shade. Other than the new body panels, the overall design of the electric scooter remains the same.

The Ather 450 Apex also shares its battery pack with the 450X. This 3.7kWh battery pack delivers a driving range of 157km in Smart Eco Mode. The electric motor on the 450 Apex produces a maximum power output of 7kW. In comparison, the 450X produces 6.4kW of power. The key change on the 450 Apex is the new Warp+ riding mode. In this mode, the electric scooter has hit a maximum speed of more than 100 kmph, accelerating from 0-40 kmph in just 2.9 seconds. This makes the 450 Apex the fastest scooter from Ather Energy yet.

The Ather 450 Apex also features a new enclosed belt drive system. Ather will introduce this belt system on other electric scooters in its portfolio as well. Ather has also upgraded the regenerative braking system on its new scooter. Using this new system, the scooter can be brought to a halt by twisting the accelerator 15 degrees backward. This feature will also make it to other Ather scooters.

Conclusion

Ather 450 Apex is the most expensive offering from the EV startup yet, fetching Rs 1.89 lakh. At this price range, it has no direct rivals. However, the electric scooter will rival the likes of Ola S1 Pro Gen 2, Hero Vida V1 Pro, Simple One, and TVS iQube.
