Apache inspired retro-styled bike by TVS spied testing on roads

TVS has been rushing to bring out new bikes for Indian consumers. Now an Apache inspired retro-styled bike was spotted being tested by Ashish Kadam. The company has been registering a lot of trademarks as well. A similar name Retron has been taken over the internet a few days ago. The previous expectation was that the company will use this name for its new electric scooter but now after seeing the spy shots, it can be this new retro-looking bike as well.

The image was spied near Hosur where TVS’s Manufacturing plant is present. The image clearly shows a disguised prototype of a retro-looking bike conduction test run. The design language looks similar to Apache RTR 160. We can expect this to be a modern retro roadster. Some noticeable attributes are a single piece grab rail for pillions for bumpy roads, An upset exhaust, and a single piece saddle.

The tail section looks a little extended and the LED stoplight is a single piece auxiliary setup. The bike can be seen having a wider profile and cross-section. It was also running on alloy wheels and thick tiers confirming the look of a naked roadster. Currently, there are no details of the front profile to confirm the headlight but the suspension used are telescopic forks.

But looking at the round-shaped instrument console we can assume it to be a retro-styled one. If it’s a digital unit or a semi-analogue one is not sure though, but as TVS is leaning more towards Bluetooth connectivity we can guess the same with this as well. The bike can be seen with a disk brake in both front and rear. For safety, single-channel ABS is expected at least.

Taking a guess, the bike should be paired with the same 159.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that powers Apache RTR 160. After this, the company will have 2 options to choose from. A 2V version that produces 15.3 bhp power and 13.9 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 4V option churns out 17.39 bhp and a peak torque of 14.73 Nm. In any of the cases, the bike will be paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The major rival of this bike will be Yamaha’s FZ-X and it will be priced competitively as well.
