The all-electric Tata Safari is finally coming to India next year. Fresh reports suggest that the automaker will launch its flagship EV in January 2027. The Safari EV will share a lot of mechanical similarities with its badge sibling, the Harrier EV, but it is expected to mark the debut of the biggest battery pack from Tata yet. Since it is an ICE-to-EV conversion, it will retain the broad design language of the ICE Safari.

Tata Safari EV: What to expect?

The Safari EV is underpinned by the Acti.ev+ platform. This architecture is also found on the Harrier EV. The all-electric Safari will get the 2 battery options offered with the Harrier EV – 65kWh and 75kWh. These battery packs can go up to 538km and 622km on a full charge, respectively. These numbers will be slightly lower on the Safari EV due to its heavier body. Tata may also equip the top-spec variants of its flagship EV with an 80kWh battery pack. The driving range specs of this battery are currently unknown.

This add-on is missing on the ICE version of the SUV. Apart from the exclusive EV branding, no big changes are expected along the front and rear sections. The spy shots have also revealed a multi-link suspension setup for the all-electric model.

Final Thoughts

The Harrier EV is currently Tata Motors’ flagship electric offering in India. Its prices start at Rs 21.49 lakh and go up to Rs 30.54 lakh. The Safari EV will demand a premium over these prices. Upon launch, it will rival the Mahindra XEV 9S, BYD Atto 3, MG Tomahawk EV, and VinFast VF 7.
