Kia India has added 2 new trims to its recently launched offerings. The Kia Carens Clavis gets an HTE (EX) trim positioned between HTE (O) and HTK+ levels. It is priced at Rs 12.55 lakh. Meanwhile, the HTK (EX) variant of the Syros is sandwiched between the HTK (O) and HTK+ trims, fetching Rs 9.89 lakh. Both trims make some of the convenience and cosmetic features more affordable on the 2 offerings.

Kia Carens Clavis and Syros: What do the new trims offer?
Here are the prices for the new HTE (EX) trim of the Kia Carens Clavis.

HTE (EX) is the most affordable trim in Kia Carens Clavis’ lineup to offer a sunroof and automatic climate control. Previously, the single-pane sunroof was available from the HTK+ (O) trim. The introduction of the HTE (EX) trim brings its price down by Rs 3 lakh. It also offers features like cabin LED lamps, LED DRLs, and one-touch up/down for the driver’s window.

The new trim comes in 3 engine options. The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel engine puts out 116hp and 250Nm. Lastly, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit generates 160hp and 253Nm. The HTE (EX) trim is available with a manual transmission only.

The HTK (EX) trim makes LED DRLs on the Syros affordable by Rs 2 lakh. Previously, the DRLs started from the HTX trim. The turbo-petrol variant gets 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, while the diesel model retains the same wheels as the HTK (O) trim below it. Other features of this trim include the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital driver’s display, a single-pane sunroof, rear AC vents, a 6-speaker audio system, and more. On the safety front, it packs 6 airbags, TPMS, hill start assist, ISOFIX child anchorages, and other features.

The HTK (EX) trim gets the same engine options as the rest of the lineup. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine generates a maximum power output of 120hp and 172Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 115hp and 250Nm of torque. The new trim comes with a manual transmission only.

Final Thoughts
The addition of the new variant takes the total number of Kia Carens Clavis trim levels to 8 – HTE, HTE (O), HTE (EX), HTK+, HTK+ (O), HTX, HTX (O) and HTX+. The MPV rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Meanwhile, the Syros now comes in 7 trims – HTK, HTK (O), HTK (EX), HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and HTX+ (O). The compact SUV rivals the Hyundai Exter, Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Tata Nexon in India.
