Tata Harrier EV has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP after going through a series of crash tests. These ratings apply to all the variants of the electric SUV. The Harrier EV scored the maximum 32 points in the Adult Occupant Protection test, becoming the second SUV to achieve that feat. In the Child Occupant Protection test, the Harrier EV garnered 45 points out of a possible 49.

Tata Harrier EV: A closer look at the BNCAP results
In the Adult Occupant Protection test, the Tata Harrier EV scored the maximum 32 points. In the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test, the SUV showed good protection to the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck, chest, pelvis, thighs, legs, and feet. In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test and Side Pole Impact Test, it offered good protection to the driver’s head, chest, and pelvis, scoring an ‘OK’ rating.
In the Child Occupant Protection test, the Tata Harrier EV was crash tested with dummies of 18-month-old and 3-year-old children. It garnered 45 points out of a possible 49. This included a Dynamic score of 24 points (out of 24), a CRS installation score of 12 points (out of 12), and a Vehicle assessment score of 9 (out of 13).
Safety features on the Tata Harrier EV include 7 airbags, ESP with i-VBAC, Acoustic Vehicle Alert System, Hill Descent Control, Hill Hold Assist, TPMS, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, a 360-degree camera, and an e-IVRM with a digital video recorder. The Level 2 ADAS package on the SUV comprises 20 features. Safety Assist Technologies (SAT), namely the ESC (Electronic Stability Control), Side Head Protection System (curtain airbags), Pedestrian Protection System, and Seat Belt Reminders (SBR), are offered as standard fitment across all variants.

Final Thoughts
The Tata Harrier EV was launched in India earlier this month. Its prices start at Rs 21.49 lakh. So far, Tata has only revealed the pricing of the RWD models. The prices for the AWD variants with the larger 75kWh battery pack will be revealed on June 27. The 5-star safety rating is applicable to the RWD as well as AWD variants. The electric SUV rivals the Mahindra XEV 9e, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and Hyundai Creta Electric.
