2027 Hyundai Tucson: Here’s what’s new
The 5th-gen Tucson stands at dimensions of 4,700mm x 1,905mm x 1,685mm and has a 2,785mm wheelbase. This makes it 60mm longer and 40mm wider than the outgoing model, with a 30mm larger wheelbase. Hyundai will introduce 5 new paint shades for the SUV: Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Grey Matte, Driftwood Grey Metallic, Red Rock Orange Matte, and Goyo Copper Pearl.
The SUV follows Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language. As the name implies, it brings a muscular and bold look. The front fascia has been overhauled to usher in a smooth, clean design. The parametric grille gives way to a large air dam behind the layered, two-tone bumper. A sleek and minimal light bar runs across the width of the SUV and merges into the main lighting elements, which are vertically stacked along the sides. The XRT trim adds a few tweaks to make its front fascia meaner and more rugged.
Along the sides, the 2027 Hyundai Tucson gets thick body cladding, flared and squared-off wheel arches, and an overall muscular look. The silhouette has 3D-like visual elements. The pull-type door handles are in their conventional positions. The lighting elements at the back replicate the design of their front counterparts. A sleek LED light bar spans the tailgate, connecting the vertical lighting elements. The ‘TUCSON’ lettering is studded on the tailgate.
The D-cut logo on the new Tucson’s steering wheel features Hyundai’s illuminated Morse H logo. The driver’s cockpit gets a sleek, horizontal instrument panel. The central infotainment display has a wide stance. There will be Hyundai’s Pleos Connect infotainment system on board. Other features like ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, wireless charging, and multiple drive modes will also make the cut.
Hyundai hasn’t revealed the powertrain specs of the 2027 Tucson. The previous India-spec model came in petrol and diesel engine options. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produced a maximum power output of 154hp and 192Nm of torque. It was mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-litre diesel engine generated a maximum power output of 184hp and 416Nm of torque. It was mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The higher diesel variants were also available with 4-wheel drive.
