2026 Hyundai Verna spotted testing

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has an updated version of the Verna in the works. The 4th-gen Hyundai Verna was launched in India in March 2023. Next year, it is due for a mid-cycle refresh. A camouflaged mule of the facelifted sedan was recently spotted on a road test near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. While it was covered in black drapes, the test mule did give away some of the cosmetic updates.

2026 Hyundai Verna: What to do the spy shots suggest?

The 2026 Verna is expected to get several cosmetic tweaks on its front fascia. Rumours suggest that the grille could get illuminated elements. However, the recent test mule does not confirm this. The front and rear bumpers could also be restyled. The midsize sedan will maintain its profile and tapering silhouette. The alloy wheel design will remain unchanged, too. The one small change along the sides is that the C-pillars have been blacked out. There are minimal changes at the back as well. The sedan will retain the current LED tail lamp design. The light bar is expected to be carried forward to the new model, too.

The spy shots of the Verna facelift do not reveal any details about the interior of the upcoming sedan. It could get a larger touchscreen infotainment system and some more creature comforts. The current model of the sedan features a 10.25-inch dual touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, an electric sunroof with voice command support, a cooled glove box, rear AC vents, ambient lighting with 64 colour options, physical knobs for climate control, and wireless charging.

The Level 2 ADAS package on the midsize sedan packs features like lane keeping assist, lane following assist, lane departure warning, leading vehicle departure warning, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, driver attention warning, forward collision warning, blind spot collision warning, and more.

Things will remain the same under the hood as the Verna facelift will continue to be offered in 2 engine options – 1.5-litre MPi Petrol and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi Petrol. The former produces a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. Transmission options for this powertrain include a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic gearbox. The turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp and 253Nm, and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the current model of the Hyundai Verna start at Rs 10.69 lakh and go up to Rs 16.98 lakh. The facelifted model will demand a small premium over these prices. We expect it to fetch Rs 10.75 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
