Tata Motors is all set to expand its EV portfolio in India next year. The Tata Safari EV and Harrier EV were currently spotted in Pune, being transported on a tow truck. It is believed that the two EVs were being tested by the ARAI for their driving range. The test mules were heavily camouflaged but appeared to carry the pre-facelift design of their ICE counterparts. The production-spec models of the EVs will follow the design language of their current ICE facelifts. Earlier this year, Tata unveiled the concept models for the Harrier and Sierra EVs at Auto Expo.

Stylistically, the Tata Safari EV and Harrier EV will look similar to their ICE counterparts, apart from a few EV-exclusive changes. These include a shut-off grille, lack of a tailpipe, blue highlights, and special EV branding along the exterior. This is in line with other Tata electric cars in India. The new Safari and Harrier EVs feature a sleek LED light bar running across the grille. The LED headlamps are placed in C-shaped housings and get an edgier design than the outgoing models.
Not much is known about the mechanical specs of the two electric SUVs. Tata will provide multiple battery pack options for their flagship electric SUVs. The 60kWh battery pack will power the base variants of the SUVs, offering a driving range of 500km on a single charger. An 80kWh battery pack could also be made available for the higher trims. The top-spec trims will also get All-Wheel Drive configuration and better power output figures. It is confirmed that the Tata Safari EV and Harrier EV will be underpinned by the OMEGA Arc platform developed in collaboration with Land Rover. This platform also does duty on the Land Rover D8.
The interior of the Tata Safari and Harrier EVs will be similar to their ICE models. This includes the Curvv and Avinya-inspired four-spoke illuminated steering wheel along with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include a 10-speaker JBL sound system, paddle shifters, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS package. The two ICE SUVs were recently tested by the Bharat NCAP and received a 5-star rating.

As of now, Tata Motors has three all-electric cars in its India portfolio – Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV. The Tiago EV is the cheapest electric car in India, with prices starting at Rs 8.69 lakh. The Tata Safari EV and Harrier EV will launch in India by mid-2024 and are expected to be priced above Rs 20 lakh. The automaker also has an all-electric Punch in the works. Upon launch, the Safari and Harrier EVs will rival the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra XUV700 EV.
