Tata Nexon EV awarded a 5-star safety rating by Bharat NCAP

Bharat NCAP awarded the Tata Nexon EV a safety rating of 5 stars today. The Punch EV also received a similar rating from the organisation. The Nexon EV was tested by Bharat NCAP in May 2024, one month after the Punch EV. The 5-star safety rating applies to both variants of the Nexon EV. Check out the detailed scores below.

Tata Nexon EV: Bharat NCAP test results

In the Adult Occupant Protection Test, Tata Nexon EV scored 29.86 points out of a possible 32. This includes 14.26 out of 16 points in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 15.60 out of 16 points in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test.

Moving on, Tata Nexon EV scored 44.95 points out of a possible 49 in the Child Occupant Protection test. The electric SUV got a Dynamic score of 23.95 points out of 24 and received the highest possible CRS installation score (12). In the Vehicle assessment score, the EV got 9 points out of a possible 13. Bharat NCAP crash-tested the EV with restraints for an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child.

Mr Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, expressed, “My heartfelt congratulations to Tata Motors on this significant milestone as the Nexon.ev and Punch.ev receive a 5-star rating, under Bharat-NCAP. The certification aligns with the Indian government’s vision for safer vehicles in the country and emphasizes the role of Bharat-NCAP in making India’s automobile industry ‘aatmanirbhar’. The Bharat-NCAP car safety standard is pivotal in realizing the government’s vision to make India a global automobile hub and increase its export worthiness in International markets.”

Tata Nexon EV is equipped with safety features like 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program, ISOFIX, Hill Hold Assist, Roll Over Mitigation, iTPMS, and Rear Parking Assist as standard. On top of that, the SUV also features Blind Spot Monitoring, SOS Calling, EPB, Front Parking Sensor, and more. Prices for the Tata Nexon EV start at Rs 14.49 lakh and go up to Rs 19.49 lakh. It rivals the Mahindra XUV400 EV in India.
