Tata Harrier EV to launch in India next year

Tata Motors currently holds the largest EV portfolio in India. The automaker is set to expand its all-electric catalogue with the launch of the Curvv EV this year. In 2025, Tata plans on launching the all-electric Harrier followed by the Sierra EV in 2026. The Tata Harrier EV and Sierra EV were showcased by the automaker at Auto Expo 2023.

Tata Harrier EV and Sierra EV: What to expect?

The Harrier and Sierra EVs have been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions since their Auto Expo 2023 showcase. Both EVs will be based on the automaker’s acti.ev platform, which also does duty on the recently released Punch EV.

Harrier EV

Tata Harrier EV looks similar to its ICE counterpart, apart from a few EV-specific changes. This includes a shut-off grille up front. In profile, the EV will have a coupe-like roofline. A light strip runs along the bonnet of the SUV, which features the illuminated Tata logo.

Sierra EV

The Sierra EV is also underpinned by the acti.ev platform The updated concept model of the EV showcased at Auto Expo 2023 featured a full 5-door body, blacked-out C and D pillars, an upright front fascia, and a faux grille.

Tata has kept the interior layout and mechanical specs of the two EVs under a tight lid. The Tata Harrier EV is expected to come with a 60kWh battery pack for the entry-level variants and an 80kWh unit for the higher trims. The former will offer a driving range of 500km. The top-spec trims will also feature an AWD configuration. The Tata Harrier EV will share its battery and powertrain specs with the Safari EV.

Conclusion

This year, Tata plans on launching the Curvv EV in the festive season. The crossover EV looks like the Nexon EV from the front but sports a coupe-like look in profile. It will rival the existing midsize SUVs upon launch while the Tata Harrier EV will rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV700 EV and MG ZS EV.
