The new Skoda Kodiaq RS has been priced at Rs 66.99 lakh. It is the second Rally Sport offering from Skoda in India, following the Octavia RS. The initial batch of the SUV consisted of 50 units. It sold out within 6 minutes when the booking window was opened on June 22. The Kodiaq RS is imported to India as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU). It remains to be seen whether more units will be imported into the country.

The Skoda Kodiaq RS stands at dimensions of 4,761mm x 1,864mm x 1,682mm and has a 2,789mm wheelbase. It clears the ground at 194mm. It gets some design tweaks over the regular lineup. The front grille is finished in gloss black, and the bumper has been given a bolder look. The exterior mirror covers, upper window frames, roof rails, and D pillars have been blacked out. There are dual exhaust tips at the back. The grille and tailgate sport the exclusive ‘RS’ badging. There are 4 paint schemes on offer – Moon White, Magic Black, Velvet Red, and Steel Grey.
Inside, the Kodiaq RS has a 7-seat layout. It gets an all-black interior theme with red highlights on the dashboard, upholstery, and trims. The RS branding is stitched on the headrests. The steering wheel has a 3-spoke design. The powered front seats have ventilation, heating, massaging, memory, and thigh extension functions. The SUV packs a free-standing 13-inch infotainment display, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a 3-zone climate control system, a 13-speaker Canton sound system, ambient lighting, and more.
Safety features include 9 airbags (2 front + 1 centre + 2 front side + 2 rear side + 2 curtain), ESC (Electronic Stability System), ABS with EBD, EDL (Electronic Differential Lock), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist), a 360-degree camera, and more. The ADAS package comprises functions like Front Assist with warning and braking reaction, Lane Assist, Side Assist, Rear Traffic Assist, and more.
The biggest highlight of the Skoda Kodiaq RS is its powertrain. The SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. This is the same engine that powers the Octavia RS. On the Kodiaq RS, it generates a maximum power output of 265hp and 400Nm of torque, which is 30Nm higher than its Octavia counterpart. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which channels the power to all four wheels. The SUV can go from 0-100km/h in 6.3 seconds, with its top speed capped at 231km/h.

Final Thoughts
Skoda has not revealed whether it will bring a second Kodiaq RS batch to India. Due to the import duties, the price of the RS model is Rs 20 lakh higher than the L&K variant. The SUV rivals the Volkswagen Tayron R Line,  MG Majestor, Toyota Fortuner Legender, Jeep Meridian, Audi Q3, and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
