Nissan Tekton teased as ‘Baby Patrol’ ahead of world premiere

Nissan Tekton’s world premiere is set to take place in Mumbai on July 9. Ahead of the reveal, the automaker has dropped a teaser for the SUV. The teaser refers to Tekton as ‘Baby Patrol’. The two SUVs share some design elements, but the Tekton is based on the Renault Duster, which went on sale back in March. Nissan Tekton was initially set to be introduced in February 2026, but its launch had to be delayed due to undisclosed circumstances.

Nissan Tekton: What to expect?

Nissan Tekton is a rebadged version of the Renault Duster, but the two SUVs implement different design languages. The Tekton takes design inspiration from Nissan’s luxury SUV, Patrol. Its front fascia flaunts sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. A sleek light band running across the width of the front fascia connects the two DRLs. The ‘TEKTON’ lettering is studded on the bonnet. The new teaser reveals a red stripe on the grille, which wasn’t seen in previous shots.

The similarities between the Tekton and Duster become more apparent along the sides as the two SUVs share the same profile and boxy stance. The pull-type front door handles, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, flared wheel arches, and multi-spoke alloy wheels are some of the other similarities. At the back, the Tekton showcases a clean look. Its Patrol-style C-shaped LED tail lamps are connected by a light bar.

Not much is known about Nissan Tekton’s interior layout so far. We wouldn’t be surprised if its dashboard layout and instrumentation are identical to its Renault counterpart. Nissan could introduce a new colour theme for its midsize SUV. It will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features like dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and ventilated front seating are expected to make the cut.

Nissan Tekton will deploy the same powertrain as the Renault Duster. There will be 2 engine options on offer. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will generate a maximum power output of 100hp and 160Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine will produce 163hp and 280Nm. Buyers will get the option to link it to a 6-speed manual or DCT gearbox. A strong-hybrid engine option will be added down the line.
