Maruti Suzuki Jimny: An instant success?

Since its debut at AutoExpo 2023, Maruti Suzuki has amassed 24,500 bookings for the Jimny. The SUV had garnered 15,000 bookings within the first week of its debut. Due to the high demand, there is currently a six-month waiting period for the manual variants of the SUV. Meanwhile, buyers have to wait up to eight months for the automatic variants of the Jimny.

The 5-door Jimny stands at dimensions of  3850mm x 1645mm x 1730mm with a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. The 3-door Jimny had a wheelbase of 2,250 mm. The SUV gets an additional quarter window for the rear seating row. Other than the size, there are no other changes between the two variants.

Things remain the same under the hood as the 5-door Jimny continues to be powered by the K15B petrol engine that puts out a maximum power output of 102hp and 130Nm peak torque. Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been made available with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission options. It also receives Suzuki’s All Grip Pro AWD with low-range transfer gear (4L mode). A mild hybrid configuration is also on offer.

In terms of features, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door gets a 9.0-inch touchscreen Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an Arkamys surround sound system, 6 airbags, Brake Limited Slip Differential, ESP with hill hold assist, rearview camera, hill descent control, and ABS with EBD.
