The facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is slated to go on sale next month. Test mules of the SUV have been spotted on road tests since the start of the year. More recently, it was spotted without any drapes and covers for what appeared to be a TVC shoot. The newest spy shots emerge from Gurugram, giving more details about the facelift model’s underbody CNG setup. Maruti will open the booking window for the new model in the coming days.

The biggest update on the Maruti Suzuki facelift will come under the hood. A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will join the powertrain lineup alongside the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This is the same Boosterjet engine that powers the Fronx SUV. It generates a maximum power output of 100hp and 147Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Since the displacement of this engine is below 1,200cc, it qualifies for lower GST.
The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine will be retained from the current version of the Brezza. It generates a maximum power output of 101hp and 136Nm torque. Due to its high displacement, it is taxed at a 40% GST rate. The CNG version of the Brezza is based on this engine. The spy shots that have surfaced so far reveal an underbody CNG tank on the facelift model, similar to the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. This will free up lots of space in the boot. The current CNG version of the SUV produces a maximum power output of 88hp and 121.5Nm torque. It offers a mileage of 25.51km/kg.
The front fascia of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift will get some tweaks. The SUV will feature a wider grille with thick chrome highlights. The bumper, fog lamp housings, and skid plate will also be redesigned. No changes are expected along the sides, apart from a new design for the alloy wheels. The profiles of the outgoing and facelift models will be identical. At the back, the bumper will get some small tweaks.
Inside, the Brezza facelift will rock a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The current model uses a 9-inch unit. There will be wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity on board. Other features like seat ventilation, powered driver’s seat, ambient lighting, and 6 airbags are expected to make the cut. It remains to see whether the facelifted version will get an ADAS package. New colour themes for the cabin could also be on the cards.

Reports suggest that the inventories of the current-gen Brezza are running low. Unfulfilled orders for the current model will be transferred to the facelift. Prices for the current lineup of the Brezza start at Rs 8.25 lakh and go up to Rs 13.01 lakh. The new model will demand a small premium. Upon launch, it will rival Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Kia Syros, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Tata Nexon.
