The international-spec model of the Kia Sorento stands at dimensions of 4,815mm x 1,900mm x 1,700mm and has a 2,815mm wheelbase. The India-spec version of the SUV is expected to have the same measurements. The teaser image dropped by Kia India hints at an identical design too. In the teaser image, the Sorento is completely under wraps, with its LED headlamps, DRLs, and fog lamps illuminated. The SUV rocks vertically stacked headlamps with integrated T-shaped DRLs. The ‘Tiger Nose’ grille and muscular bumper exude a bold look.
Along the sides, the Sorento flaunts a pronounced shoulder line and an upright silhouette. It has flared wheel arches and dual-tone alloy wheels. The door handles are mounted in their conventional positions. At the back, the SUV gets a chunky bumper and a clean tailgate. The LED tail lamps have an angular design. Kia India has not revealed any details about the rear section of the Sorento yet.
The teaser does not reveal any details about the Sorento’s interior either. The international-spec model comes in 6- and 7-seat layouts. It has a boot space capacity of 179 litres. When the rear seats are collapsed, the capacity extends to 1,996 litres. The SUV packs dual 12.3-inch displays for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. There’s support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 4-spoke steering wheel is mounted with physical controls.
Other features include ventilated front seating, wireless charging, powered driver’s seat, a Head Up Display (HUD), a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, electronic parking brake, and a panoramic sunroof. These features will likely make it to the India-spec model. There will be a Level 2 ADAS package on offer as well.
In India, the Kia Sorento will come in 2 powertrain options – 2.2-litre and 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid. The former generates a maximum power output of 202hp and 441Nm. This is the same engine that does duty on the Kia Carnival. Meanwhile, the 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a hybrid setup produces 238hp and 380Nm. Both engines are mated to an automatic gearbox.
