Kia Carens Clavis EV updated with a 6-seat layout and 3 new trims

Kia India has updated its electric midsize MPV with a 6-seat layout. Until now, it was only available with a 7-seat layout, with a bench seat in the middle row. The new layout does not demand a premium. The Kia Carens Clavis EV has also received 3 new trims – GTX, GTX+, and X-Line. These trims are exclusively available with the larger 51.4kWh battery pack.

The two new GT-Line trims come with a new alloy wheel design, lime brake callipers, and metal pedals. The X-Line trim gets an exclusive Dark Gun Metal with Aurora Black Pearl exterior colour scheme. In terms of feature additions, the new variants get digital key and battery heater technology. These two trims are only available with the larger 51.4kWh battery pack. The 41kWh variants have been updated with 16-inch black high gloss aero alloy wheels.

Other features of the electric MPV include an 8-speaker Bose sound system, touch-sensitive HVAC and media controls, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver’s seat, connected car tech, wireless charging, Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Load charging, and more. The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On the safety front, the Carens Clavis EV rocks 6 airbags, ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Hill-Start Assist, and more. The midsize electric MPV is equipped with a Level 2 ADAS package.

As mentioned earlier, the Kia Carens Clavis EV comes in 2 battery pack options – 42kWh (404km range, ARAI) and 51.4kWh (490km range, ARAI). The electric motor is mounted on the front axle and produces a maximum power output of 135hp on the 42kWh variants and 171hp on the 51.4kWh variants. The torque remains the same on all variants – 255Nm.

As more customers transition to EVs, their expectations are evolving beyond technology to include greater comfort, flexible seating and distinctive design. The MY26 reflects this feedback with new trims and a 6-seater configuration that enhances comfort and versatility while retaining the practicality Indian customers value.”

Final Thoughts

Kia is steadily expanding its charging network in India. It has over 100 dealerships with DC fast chargers and more than 267 EV-ready workshops across the country. Using the MyKia app, owners can get access to over 15,000 charging spots nationwide. The Carens Clavis EV rivals the BYD eMax 7Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra BE 6.
