After breaking cover globally in March, the Ferrari Amalfi Spider has gone on sale in India at Rs 4.60 crore. It demands a premium of Rs 52 lakh over its coupe sibling, which is currently priced at Rs 4.02 lakh. Being a ‘Spider’, this sports car is convertible to an open-top. The only thing separating the Ferrari Amalfi Spider from its coupe counterpart in terms of design is its convertible fabric soft top. It can operate at speeds of up to 60km/h, fully retracting in 13.5 seconds. With the roof open, the fabric extends over the tonneau and adjacent rear surfaces, creating material continuity across the exterior. When fully stowed, the roof measures just 220mm in thickness. The convertible coupe stands at dimensions of 4660mm x 1,974mm x 1,305mm and has a 2,670mm wheelbase. There are 4 colour options for the roof, including the new Tecnico Ottanio, which is inspired by the car’s overall colour mood. The Spider can also be opted in an exclusive Rosso Tramonto paint scheme.
The Ferrari Amalfi Spider retains the 2+2 seating layout of its coupe counterpart. It gets a 10.25-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, a 15.6-inch digital driver’s display, and an 8.8-inch passenger display. The 3-spoke steering wheel is mounted with a wide array of tactile physical controls. The AC vents have a curved design.
The central tunnel is machined from solid aluminium and houses the primary controls. The secondary functions are positioned further back to improve ergonomics and clean visuals. The door panels have a sail motif. Some of the interior components, including the tonneau cover, door panels and seatbacks, have the same trim as the fabric roof. The Amalfi Spider has a luggage capacity of 255 litres with the roof closed and 172 litres with the roof open. The convertible is decked with features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, wireless charging, connected car tech, ADAS, and more.
Powering the Amalfi Spider is the 3.9-inch twin-turbo V8 engine from the standard coupe. It generates a maximum power output of 640hp and 760Nm of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Spider can go from 0-100km/h in just 3.3 seconds. Its top speed is capped at 320km/h. These numbers are not far off from the standard coupe model, despite the convertible being 86kg heavier.
