Citroen eC3 facelift teased, launch imminent

French automaker Citroen has dropped the first teaser for the updated version of its all-electric hatchback. The Citroen eC3 facelift will go on sale in India this month. Similar to its ICE sibling, the EV will get the ‘X’ branding. The ICE model was updated last year and got rebranded to C3 X. The new eC3 will come with fresh styling, cosmetics, and feature upgrades, but will remain mechanically unchanged.

Citroen eC3 facelift: What to expect?

The Citroen eC3 will resemble the eC3 X, which was launched last year. The teaser reveals a similar front fascia, highlighting the projector LED headlamps and fog lamps. The front bumper appears to be reworked, as it now houses a giant frame with a silver finish. The hatchback retains the chrome finish on the shut-off grille.

We don’t expect a lot of changes along the sides, except a new design for the alloy wheels. The changes at the back will be minimal, too. The EV may get a refreshed taillight design. The rear bumper may also receive a few minor tweaks. Citroen will introduce some new colour options (mono-tone and dual-tone) for the eC3 X. The electric hatchback will remain dimensionally unchanged from its outgoing model.

More significant updates are expected along the interior of the upcoming Citroen eC3 facelift. The hatchback will take design inspiration from its recently updated ICE sibling. The two cars will have the same dashboard design and cabin layout. In terms of features, the eC3 will likely borrow the larger 7-inch digital driver’s display from the C3 X. It will retain the 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the outgoing model. It will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Other features like a 360-degree camera, an auto-dimming IVRM, a 4-speaker sound system, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and fast USB-C charging are expected to make the cut. On the safety front, the EV will rock 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and more.

No mechanical changes are expected on the Citroen eC3. The electric hatchback will continue to be powered by the single electric motor that does duty on the current model. It generates a maximum power output of 57hp and 143Nm of torque. The top speed of the EV is capped at 107km/h. The 29.2kWh battery pack offers a 320km driving range on a full charge. The EV comes with a 3.3kW home charger, which can fully charge it in just under 11 hours.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the current Citroen eC3 lineup start at Rs 12.90 lakh and go up to Rs 13.41 lakh. The facelift model will not demand a premium over these prices. Upon launch, it will continue to rival the Tata Tigor EV, Tata Punch EV, and MG Comet EV.
