Since its launch in June 2022, Mahindra Scorpio N has become one of the most popular SUVs in the Indian market. After receiving an overwhelming amount of bookings upon launch, the automaker added 5 new variants to the Scorpio N lineup back in December 2022 to cater to the high demand. At its peak, the SUV even demanded waiting periods of more than a year. Now, Mahindra has launched a new Z8 Select variant for the Scorpio N lineup. This variant offers premium features at an affordable price.

Mahindra Scorpio Z8 Select: What’s on offer?

The Z8 Select variant of the Mahindra Scorpio N sits below the top-spec Z8 and Z8L variants. It is priced between Rs 16.99 lakh – Rs 18.99 lakh. This makes the petrol and diesel powertrains of the Z8 Select variant Rs 1.65 lakh and Rs 1.11 lakh cheaper than their Z8 counterparts.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N Exteriors

In terms of features, the Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select gets double-barrel LED headlamps and LED DRLs, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, and LED turn indicators on the OVRMs. The Z8 Select is also available in a Midnight Black colour option. Inside, the mid-spec variant features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster. The infotainment system is equipped with Adrenox Connect (with more than 60 connected car functions) and Alexa voice assistant. It also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The two powertrain options available on the Mahindra Scorpio N are a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2L diesel engine unit that also powers the Mahindra Thar and XUV700. The petrol unit delivers 167hp of power while the diesel unit puts 152hp of power. The SUV comes with multiple driving modes and has a body-on-frame construction. It features intelligent 4Xplore terrain management technology, offering four modes – Tarmac, Snow, Mud and Desert, with the touch of a button.

Earlier, this month Mahindra crossed the production milestone of 1 lakh units for the Scorpio N. The automaker sold 43,000 SUVs in India last month, with the Scorpio N contributing to a significant portion of the sales. Mahindra Scorpio is also one of the safest SUVs in India, having received a 5-star rating at the GNCAP crash tests. Its safety features include 6 airbags, advanced ESC, driver drowsiness detection, advanced seat restraint system, collapsible steering system, anti-lock braking system, Penta-link rear suspension, along with a range of segment-first features like Watt’s link suspension mechanism, frequency-dependent damping, MTV-CL shock absorbers, and much more.

Conclusion

Prices for the Mahindra Scorpio N currently start at Rs 13.60 lakh and go up to Rs 24.54 lakh for the top-spec variant. It is available in 6 and 7-seater configurations. In India, the SUV rivals the likes of Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector, Tata Safari, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Hyundai Creta, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
