Buyers face waiting periods of up to 8 weeks for 2nd-gen Kia Seltos

The 2nd-gen Kia Seltos was launched in India on January 2 at a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh. Bookings for the midsize SUV have been open since December 11, 2025. Buyers are currently facing waiting periods of up to 8 weeks for the SUV, depending on the powertrain and paint shade. The token amount for bookings is set at Rs 25,000.

Kia Seltos: Here’s how long you have to wait to get your hands on the SUV

The new Kia Seltos comes in 7 trim levels – HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK (O), HTX, GTX, and X Line. Dealer sources reveal that the waiting period for the diesel variants is around 6-8 weeks. On the other hand, the NA petrol and turbo-petrol variants take between 4-6 weeks to reach the customers. The Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, and Magma Red paint shades are in the highest demand, with waiting periods up to 8 weeks. Other paint shades have a standard 4-week waiting period.

 

The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine on the Kia Seltos generates a maximum power output of 115hp and 144Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 160hp and 253Nm. It can be paired with a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Lastly, the 1.5-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 116hp and 250Nm torque. This engine can be linked to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The new Seltos is packed with premium features. Its dashboard flaunts a ‘Trinity Panoramic Display’ comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an equally large digital instrument cluster, and a 5-inch display for HVAC controls. Other features include a 10-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar adjust and relaxation functions, ventilated front seats with a ‘welcome retract’ function for easy entry and exit, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, and wireless charging.

On the safety front, the 2nd-gen Seltos packs 6 airbags, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Rollover Sensor, Rear Occupant Alert, Blind View Monitor, 360°Surround Camera, and Side Parking Sensors. There is a Level 2 ADAS package on board with 21 autonomous safety features. These include Forward Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and more.

Final Thoughts

The 2nd-gen Seltos range starts at Rs 10.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.99 lakh. The diversity in powertrain options makes it one of the most successful midsize SUVs in India. The new model has already sold over 10,000 units since its launch in January 2026. It rivals the likes of the Hyundai CretaSkoda KushaqVolkswagen TaigunHonda ElevateCitroen C3 AircrossMaruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder.
