Volvo EX40 priced at Rs 56.10 lakh

Volvo has changed the name of its XC40 Recharge SUV to EX40 in India. The automaker announced the rebranding plans earlier this year. The Volvo EX40 is priced at Rs 56.10 lakh in India. It demands a premium of Rs 1.15 lakh over the XC40 Recharge. The C40 Recharge sedan will be the next Volvo offering to undergo the badge change as it will be renamed to EC40.

Volvo EX40: What’s on offer?

The Volvo EX40 is available in a single Ultra variant. The electric SUV is available in 6 colour options –  Fjord Blue, Crystal White, Sand Dune, Cloud Blue, Onyx Black, and Sage Green. The SUV’s design remains unchanged from its previous avatar. It gets Pixel LED headlamps up front and rests on 19-inch 5-Spoke Black Diamond Cut alloy wheels.

The Ultra variant of the Volvo EX40 is available in a single-motor RWD powertrain. This is the same powertrain that was previously offered on the XC40 Recharge. This electric motor produces a maximum power output of 238hp and 420Nm of torque. The SUV’s top speed is 180kmph and it can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 7.3 seconds The 67kWh battery pack offers a driving range of 475km.

The XC40 Recharge was also offered in a twin-motor configuration. This configuration has not made it to the EX40 yet. The twin-motor XC40 Recharge could generate a maximum power output of 408hp and 660Nm of torque. It could accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds.

Inside, the Volvo EX40 sports a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-inch digital driver’s display, a Harmon Kardon sound system, a two-zone climate control system, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, powered front seats, wireless charging, and more.

Volvo is also offering discounts worth up to Rs 5.05 lakh on the unsold units of the XC40 Recharge SUV. The C40 Recharge is available with offers worth up to Rs 1.05 lakh. The XC40 Recharge is available in Plus and Ultimate trims. The twin-motor variants of the SUV are out of stock.

Conclusion

The Volvo EX40 can be currently booked online for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. There are multiple interior colour themes on offer. Volvo will rebrand the C40 Recharge sedan to EC40 next. The EX40 rivals the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BYD Seal in India.
