Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line launched in India at Rs 49 lakh

Volkswagen India has launched the Tiguan R-Line SUV in India. The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is priced at Rs 49 lakh. It is a CBU import to India, which explains its high price tag. No other variants of the 3rd-gen Tiguan have been brought to India. The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s flagship SUV in India. The automaker is currently accepting bookings for the SUV for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Everything you need to know

The new Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line gets a few design tweaks over the outgoing variant. The front fascia of the SUV sports sleek LED Plus headlamps connected by a horizontal glass strip. The bottom section houses the radiator grille openings and the mesh-covered air dam. The SUV rests on 19-inch ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels. An athletic shoulder line runs over the rounded wheel arches. At the back, a smoked LED light bar connects the taillamps.

Inside, the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line showcases ‘R’ inserts on the sport comfort seats and an illuminated ‘R’ logo on the dashboard. The SUV is packed with features like a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 30-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, massage seats with adjustable lumbar support, a 3-zone air conditioning system, wireless charging, and more.

Safety features on the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line include 9 airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control, Front & Rear Disc Brakes and more. The Level 2 ADAS package onboard the SUV comes with 21 features. It also boasts a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This engine can produce a maximum power output of 204hp and 320Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This engine can take the SUV from 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds, with the top speed capped at 229kmph. The Tiguan R-Line also rocks a 4-wheel drive configuration.

This iconic SUVW along with being bold and dynamic is also modern, fully equipped and highly capable to handle all terrains. Developed with German–engineered DNA, 5-star safety and fun-to-drive dynamics, the all-new Tiguan R-Line is here to thrill.”

Final Thoughts

The Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is available in 6 colour options: Persimmon Red Metallic, Cipressino Green Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Pearl, and Oyster Silver Metallic. The delivery rollout for the SUV will begin on April 23. The Tiguan R-Line rivals BMW X1, Volvo XC40, Mercedes Benz GLA, and Audi Q3 in India.
