Volkswagen Tiguan gets an interior update, prices hiked

Volkswagen has updated the interior of its premium SUV, Tiguan. As a result, prices for the Volkswagen Tiguan have been hiked by Rs 49,000. Volkswagen has also updated the 2.0-litre TSI engine on the Tiguan in compliance with the BS6 Phase 2 norms. The SUV also receives some minor feature updates.

MY2023 Volkswagen Tiguan: What’s new?

The new Volkswagen Tiguan comes with a new dual-tone interior. The all-black theme has been ditched for a grey-and-white colour scheme. The SUV also gets some new features like wireless charging, three-point seat belts, seat belt reminder, adjustable headrests, and Volkswagen’s Park Assist system. Other safety features on the Tiguan include ABS, ESC, anti-slip regulation (ASR), EDL, hill start assist, hill descent control, TPMS, and driver alert systems.

Volkswagen Tiguan is available in seven colour options: Pure White, Deep Black, Oryx White Dolphin Grey, Nightshade Blue, Reflex Silver, and Kings Red. The SUV also gets a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and 30 shades of ambient lighting.

Volkswagen has also updated the 2.0-litre TSI engine on the Tiguan to meet the newest RDE norms. This unit produces a maximum power output of 190hp and 320Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The fuel efficiency of this engine has increased from 12.65 kmpl to 13.54 kmpl post-upgrade.

It is also reported that an all-electric version of the Tiguan is in the works and could be released by 2025. Volkswagen Tiguan Electric is expected to be underpinned by the MEB+ platform and will come with five-seat and seven-seat layout options. It will also get a four-wheel drive along with a rear-wheel drive option.

Conclusion

Volkswagen has also hiked prices for the Tiguan by Rs 49,000. The SUV’s lineup now starts at Rs 34.19 lakh. Buyers can book the Tiguan at any of Volkswagen’s 157 sales and 124 customer service touchpoints across India. Volkswagen Tiguan rivals the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Jeep Compass.
