Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: What to expect?
Toyota took the wraps off the Urban Cruiser EV back in December 2024. It stands at dimensions of 4,285mm x 1,800mm x 1,640mm and has a 2,700mm wheelbase. Its front fascia is highlighted by a sleek shut-off grille flanked on either side by sleek LED headlamps. The LED DRLs are integrated into the headlamps. The SUV follows Toyota’s ‘Hammerhead’ design language. At the back, the electric SUV shares similarities with its Maruti counterpart. Its wraparound LED tail lamps are connected by a light bar. The profile reveals C-pillar-mounted door handles.
The interior layout of the Urban Cruiser EV is similar to the e Vitara. The twin display on the dashboard comprises a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. There is support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on board. Other features include a 360-degree camera, a single-zone automatic climate control, a powered driver’s seat, a sunroof, a JBL sound system, wireless charging, and more. On the safety front, the electric SUV packs a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane keep assist, and more.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will come in 2 battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh. The 49kWh variants will be powered by a front-mounted single electric motor. This electric motor can produce a maximum power output of 144hp and 189Nm. Meanwhile, the FWD variants with the 61kWh battery pack will produce an increased output of 174hp. In an AWD configuration, these variants will put out an additional 65hp. Their torque will be capped at 300Nm.
Toyota Europe has revealed the driving range offered by the 2 battery packs. The 49kWh variants can go up to 344km on a full charge. Meanwhile, the FWD and AWD variants of the 61kWh battery pack offer a driving range of 426km and 395km, respectively. Both battery packs can be charged from 10-80% in 45 minutes using a DC fast charger. A 3-phase 11kW AC home charger takes up to 6 hours to fully charge the car. A single-phase 7kW AC charger accomplishes the same feat in about 9.5 hours.
