Tata Safari and Harrier facelift unveiled, bookings now open

Tata Motors has taken the wraps of their newest SUV facelifts – Tata Safari and Tata Harrier. The two SUVs get significant cosmetic and feature upgrades. There are no changes under the hood as the two SUVs retain the same powertrain options as their outgoing counterparts. Bookings for the Safari and Harrier facelifts have been opened as well, with the token amount being set at Rs 25,000. Prices for the two SUVs will be announced later this month and the delivery rollout will take place soon after.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts: What’s new?

The two SUVs get wide grilles up front, with the Safari getting a more pronounced and wider unit. A black band runs across the bumper that separates the grille from the central air intake system. The LED headlamps are positioned vertically on the edges of the bumper. While both SUVs have a C-shape housing for the LED headlamps, they are positioned further up on the Tata Safari and sport a more rectangular shape. The highlight of the front fascia is the LED light bar that runs across the top of the grille on the two SUVs.

Not much has changed along the sides except a new design for the alloy wheels. At the rear, the tail lamps receive a minor design tweak and are now connected by a light bar. The rear bumper has new protrusions for the reflectors. These protrusions match the C-shaped design for the LED headlamp housing up front.

The key difference in the interior of the Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts is the finish on the dashboard. The Harrier gets a mix of textured finishes on the dashboard, ranging from glossy to leatherette padding. A sleek LED strip runs at the bottom of the dashboard, adding to the ambient lighting. Both SUVs get two size options for the freestanding touchscreen infotainment system – 10.25-inch and 12.3-inch. There is also a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster onboard.

One of the biggest highlights of the interior of the Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts is the four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo. The new Nexon and Nexon.ev facelifts featured a similar steering. Talking about the features, the two SUVs get a 10-speaker JBL sound system, paddle shifters, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS package.

Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts remain mechanically unchanged and continue to be powered by the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that was found on the outgoing models. This diesel engine can churn out a maximum power output of 170hp and 350Nm of torque. It can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, Tata will reveal the pricing for the Safari and Harrier facelifts by the end of the month. Upon launch, Tata Safari and Harrier facelifts will rival Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, Jeep Compass, Mahindra Scorpio N, and MG Hector Plus.
