Tata Motors has hit the 6 lakh production landmark for its compact SUV, Nexon. The SUV reached the 5 lakh milestone less than a year ago, in April 2023. Tata Nexon is available in ICE and EV avatars, making it one of the most popular cars in India. It was first launched in September 2017. After completing a six-year run, the facelifted version of the SUV was launched in September 2023.

Launched on September 21, 2017, it took Tata Nexon just 1 year and 10 months to hit the 1 lakh production landmark. The next 1 lakh units were produced within a similar period. By September 2022, Tata had produced 4,00,000 units of the Nexon. The automaker hit the 5 lakh milestone in just 6 more months. Since then, Tata has rolled out another 1 lakh units in 10 months. These numbers include the EV model as well as the new facelift.
Under the hood, the Tata Nexon facelift continues to be offered with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The former puts out 120hp and 170Nm while the latter produces 115hp and 260Nm. Both engines can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The petrol engine also gets 7-speed DCT and 5-speed manual transmission options.
The Tata Nexon EV is available in two battery variants – MR and LR. The former gets a 30kWh battery pack that offers a driving range of 325km. Meanwhile, the 40.5kWh battery pack on the LR variant can go up to 465km on a full charge. Talking about the power specs, the Nexon.ev MR puts out 129hp and 215Nm, while the LR variants produces 145hp and 215Nm.

Prices for the Tata Nexon start at Rs 8.10 lakh and go up to Rs 15.50 lakh. Meanwhile, the Nexon EV is priced between Rs 14.74 lakh – Rs 19.94 lakh. The compact SUV rivals the likes of Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Its electric variants go up against the Mahindra XUV400 EV in India.
