Tata Nexon hits 5 lakh production landmark, facelift in the works

Tata Motors has reached the 5 lakh production milestone for its compact SUV Tata Nexon. The automaker achieved this feat in a little over 6.5 years (67 months). The 5,00,000th unit of the Nexon was rolled out of the automaker’s production facility in Ranjangaon on April 11. The SUV was first launched in September 2017. Since then, it has spawned an EV version as well. Tata will soon be launching the facelifted version of the Nexon soon.

Tata Nexon: The story so far

Launched on September 21, 2017, Tata Nexon was an instant hit among the Indian audience. It took just 1 year and 10 months for the SUV to hit the first 1 lakh production units. The next 1,00,000 units were produced in a similar timeframe, but it took the Nexon just 8 months to roll out the next one lakh units. By September 2022, Tata had produced 4,00,000 units of the Nexon. The automaker hit the 5 lakh milestone in just 6 more months.

The ICE version of Tata Nexon comes in petrol and diesel powertrain options. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 118hp and 170Nm peak torque. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine can churn out a maximum power output of 108hp and 260Nm peak torque. Both engine variants are available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

The Tata Nexon EV puts out a maximum power of 127hp and 245Nm peak torque. The compact electric SUV is available in two battery pack options: 30.2 kWh (Prime) and 40.5 kWh (Max). Prices for Tata Nexon EV start at Rs 14.49 lakh and go up to Rs 18.99 lakh. Tata recently updated the driving range of the electric SUV to 453km on the Max variant. An XM variant for the EV is also available at Rs 16.49 lakh.

Conclusion

Tata will be launching a facelift version of the Nexon pretty soon. The 2023 Tata Nexon has been spotted testing on Indian roads on multiple occasions. Currently, Tata Nexon rivals the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300.
