The facelifted model of the Tata Altroz hatchback is set to launch on May 22. Ahead of the launch, Tata Motors has dropped a teaser for the premium hatchback. This is the first significant facelift that the Altroz has received since its release. The updated model will flaunt a refreshed design along with some new premium features to bring it up to date with the competition.

Tata Altroz facelift: What’s in store?

The teaser for the Tata Altroz facelift reveals some important details about its front fascia. While Tata Motors has carried forward the split headlamp setup from the current model, it is now all LED. The headlamps are integrated with LED DRLs along the top border, giving them a brow-like look. The grille and bumper design have been revised. The fog lamp housings are aligned vertically. Along the sides, the hatchback gets a new design for its alloy wheels, along with handles that sit flush on the door panel. At the back, the T-shaped LED headlamps are connected by a sleek light bar.

So far, not much is known about the interior of the Tata Altroz facelift. The teaser does not reveal any details related to the dashboard, cabin, or instrumentation. We expected the facelifted model to come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. The dashboard will flaunt a new premium finish. However, the highlight will be the four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. The hatchback may also get a 360-degree camera.

The Tata Altroz facelift will remain unchanged mechanically. The Altroz has one of the most versatile powertrains in its segment. The 1.2-litre NA petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 87hp and 115Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine puts out 108hp and 140Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 89hp and 200Nm. Lastly, the CNG engine puts out 73hp and 103Nm. All engines can be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.2L NA petrol engine can also be paired with a 6-speed DCT. The Altroz Racer is powered by the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, but it produces 120hp and 170Nm. It is not available with an automatic transmission.

Final Thoughts

The current-gen Tata Altroz starts at Rs 6.65 lakh and goes up to Rs 11 lakh. We expect the facelifted model to cost over Rs 7 lakh. Tata Motors will open the booking window in the coming days. Upon launch, the Altroz facelift will rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza.
