Suzuki took the wraps off the next-gen Swift at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2023. The hatchback has now started arriving at dealerships in Japan. The CVT variants of the car went on sale in Japan last month. The MT variants have now been spotted arriving at Suzuki showrooms in Japan. The hatchback will be rebadged for India as the Maruti Suzuki Swift and will hit the market later this year. The 4th-gen Swift gets changes across the board, including cosmetics, features, and powertrain.

The new 2024 Suzuki Swift retains the signature look of the hatchback while making key changes to certain cosmetic elements. It gets a new pair of LED projector headlamps which look a little more angular than the outgoing model. The hatchback also gets a wider grille and a new bumper. The Swift’s nose is now flatter and the bumper has rounded edges. In profile, the hatchback looks similar to its outgoing model, with the only difference being a new design for the alloy wheels. At the back, it gets a new design for the LED tail lamps and bumper.
Inside, the 2024 Suzuki Swift features a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system which has support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The dashboard gets several tweaks to the design and the interior gets a dual-tone colour theme. It also gets wireless charging, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, an electric sunroof, and an ADAS package. Most of these features will not make it to the India-spec Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Powering the 4th-gen Suzuki Swift is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E engine that produces a maximum power output of 82hp and 103Nm of torque. The Japanese variant gets a hybrid variant as well. Transmission options for the hatchback include a CVT and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The India-spec variant of Swift will feature a different powertrain.

The new Suzuki Swift has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions. It is expected to launch in mid to late 2024. The current-gen hatchback is available in petrol and CNG powertrains. It remains to be seen whether the automaker will add a hybrid powertrain to the lineup as well. Upon launch, the Maruti Suzuki Swift will rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Kwid, Tata Altroz, and Tata Tiago.
