Spy shots confirm a front charging port for Tata Punch EV

Tata Punch EV is set to make its debut in India this year. The electric SUV was spotted in a camouflaged avatar recently. The spy shots reveal the presence of a front charging port on the EV. Since the SUV is believed to go into production soon, it is very likely the front charging port will make it to the production-spec Tata Punch EV.

Tata Punch EV: What to expect?

Not much is known about the upcoming Tata Punch EV so far. Tata Motors has kept a tight light on the electric SUV, with all the test mules being heavily draped in camouflage. Even the test unit spotted recently did not reveal much about the SUV’s exterior. However, there are some things that are to be expected on the Punch EV.

Like Tata’s other ICE to EV offerings (Tiago and Tigor), the Punch EV will not look radically different from its ICE counterpart. The grille up front will be closed off since it is an electric vehicle, but it will be flanked by similar LED headlamps and DRLs. It will also receive special ‘EV’ branding along the exterior. Talking about updates, Tata Punch EV may feature disc brakes on all four wheels along with a new alloy wheel design.

Tata Punch EV’s interiors are also expected to be carried forward from the ICE model, apart from a few key changes. The electric SUV could feature the two-spoke steering that we recently saw on the Curvv concept and the Nexon facelift. It could also feature a bigger 10.25-inch infotainment system instead of the 7-inch unit.

Conclusion

Tata Punch EV will be underpinned by the ALFA platform and will be made available in several battery variants. It could be priced anywhere between Rs 10-12 lakh. Upon launch, Tata Punch EV will rival Citroen eC3.
