Skoda Kushaq Onyx Edition launched at Rs 12.39 lakh

A new ‘Onyx Edition’ for the Skoda Kushaq has been launched in India at Rs 12.39 lakh. The Onyx Edition is priced Rs 80,000 higher than the entry-level Active trim of the Kushaq. The exclusive edition of the SUV comes with a few design changes. It has only been made available with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.

Skoda Kushaq Onyx Edition: Everything you need to know

The new Skoda Kushaq Onyx Edition gets new chrome surrounds on the front grille and plastic covers for its 16-inch steel wheels. It also gets a faux diffuser on the bumper and the exclusive ‘Onyx’ badging on the B pillar. The biggest change is the grey graphic spanning across the doors on the side.

While there are no changes to the interior design, the new Skoda Kushaq Onyx Edition gets the exclusive Onyx badging on the scuff plates and headrests. The interior gets a black and grey colour scheme. There’s a two-spoke steering wheel on offer. Like the front grille, the chrome surrounds can also be found on the AC vents. The dashboard gets a textured finish as well.

The entry-level Active trim of the Kushaq gets some additional features like LED projector headlights, automatic climate control, fog lamps, a rear wiper, and a rear defogger. Other than that, the Kushaq retains the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6-speaker audio system, and rear AC vents.

As mentioned earlier the Skoda Kushaq Onyx Edition is only being offered with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 115hp and 175Nm peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with no option for an automatic transmission.

Skoda Kushaq is currently one of the safest midsize SUVs in India, receiving a 5 rating at the Global NCAP tests last year. The Kushaq rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Volkswagen Taigun.
