Last year, Renault started upgrading its India portfolio, giving much-needed facelifts to the Kiger SUV and Triber MPV. This year, the Renault Kwid will be refreshed with an updated model. The hatchback has been spotted testing on Indian roads since September 2025. Its most recent spy shots emerged in Brazil, where Renault retails it alongside its all-electric counterpart. The facelifted model is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of 2026.

Renault Kwid facelift: What to expect?

The Renault Kwid is a rebadged version of the Dacia Spring hatchback sold in Europe. Its new model will build upon the design philosophy of the outgoing model, while borrowing some elements from the Duster SUV. Its front fascia will flaunt Duster-inspired Y-shaped DRLs. The halogen headlamps will be housed on the bumper. They will sport a pentagonal pattern. The grille will have a closed-off look. Along the sides, the hatchback will get squared-off wheel arches and prominent body cladding. The alloy wheel design will be carried forward from its Dacia counterpart. The LED tail lamps will have a Y-shaped design, just like the DRLs. However, they will not be connected by a light bar.

Not much is known about the interior layout and instrumentation of the Renault Kwid facelift so far. We expect it to get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It will come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The driver’s side will be equipped with a fully digital 7-inch instrument cluster. The layout of the dashboard and cabin will be carried forward from the Dacia Spring. The hatchback will offer 6 airbags as a standard safety feature. Other features like ISOFIX anchorages, ABS with EBD, ESC, and seatbelt reminders will also make the cut.

No changes are expected under the hood of the upcoming Renault Kwid hatchback. It will continue to be powered by the 1.0-litre petrol engine that does duty on the current model. This engine generates a maximum power output of 68hp and 92.5Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. While this engine does not come with a factory-fitted CNG kit, buyers can get one retrofitted at the dealerships. It remains to be seen whether Renault will introduce the all-electric version of the Kwid in India.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the current-gen model of the Kwid start at Rs 4.30 lakh and go up to Rs 5.99 lakh. The facelifted model will demand a small premium. We expect its prices to start at Rs 4.50 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and S Presso in India. It will be the second big Renault release in India this year. Back in January, the automaker took the wraps off the new Duster SUV. It is currently open for bookings for a token amount of Rs 21,000.
