Nissan Motor: Magnite drives the automaker’s success in India
Nissan Magnite is the only Nissan product on offer in India. The SUV was launched in 2020 and is one of the most affordable compact SUVs around. Nissan Magnite rivals compact SUVs like Tata Punch, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300, as well as midsize SUVs like Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, and Hyundai Creta.
After Nissan discontinued the Kicks SUV due to stringent emission norms in India, Magnite remains the automaker’s sole offering in India. Launched at a starting price of Rs 5.97 lakh in December 2020, the Magnite has garnered over 1 lakh bookings in India to date. Following the success of the compact SUV, Nissan added a ‘Red Edition’ to the Magnite lineup in July 2022. The Red Edition was launched at a starting price of Rs 7.86 lakh.
Nissan Magnite is powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that can generate up to 72hp. The option of a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with CVT is also available. When it comes to safety, Nissan Magnite features Traction Control System, Hill Assist, and Brake Assist.
Nissan Magnite is exported to over 15 countries including Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Nissan Motor plans on expanding its catalogue in India. The automaker recently showcased its global SUVs like X-Trail, Qashqai, and Juke in India. The X-Trail could be making a comeback in India after eight years.
