The next-gen Hyundai i20 will make its debut in late 2026 or early 2027. The hatchback has been spotted testing overseas on numerous occasions. The latest spy shots emerge from Scandinavia, where it was undergoing a low-temperature road test. These spy shots give a closer look at the hatchback’s interior setup. Details about an Indian launch are currently unknown.

Next-gen Hyundai i20: What do the spy shots suggest?
The recently surfaced spy shots of the next-gen Hyundai i20 reveal its dashboard layout. Hyundai has equipped its bestselling hatchback with a dual-screen setup for the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital driver’s display. While the exact specs of this system are not known yet, it could be identical to the 12.3-inch panoramic display we saw on the 2nd-gen Venue last year. The setup on the i20 will support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with Hyundai’s new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system powered by NVIDIA.
The steering wheel of the next-gen i20 also looks similar to the Venue SUV. It features a triple-spoke design with an illuminated Morse code for the letter ‘H’ in the middle. The test mule featured black upholstery, but its door and dashboard trims were fully camouflaged. Not much is known about its feature list so far, but we expect wireless charging, ventilated front seating, reclining rear seats, rear AC vents, connected car tech, voice-enabled electric sunroof, and ambient lighting to make the cut.
The exterior of all the test mules surfaced so far has been completely draped under covers. However, the cutouts hint towards a refreshed design language for the LED headlamps, DRLs, and tail lamps. The front grille and bumper will be reworked. The tailgate may also get a few tweaks. Along the sides, the alloy wheels will sport a fresh dual-tone look and a new design.
Things are expected to remain the same under the hood. The standard model of the next-gen i20 will retain the 1.2-litre petrol engine. This engine generates a maximum power output of 88hp and 115Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox. The N Line version of the hatchback will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. On the current model, this engine produces a maximum power output of 120hp and 172Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Hyundai is reportedly working on a hybrid engine for the hatchback. The details about this setup have been kept under a tight lid.

Final Thoughts
Prices for the current-gen Hyundai i20 start at Rs 5.99 lakh and go up to Rs 10.57 lakh. Expect the next-gen model to demand a small premium. We expect its prices to start at Rs 6.30 lakh. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza in India.
