Maruti Suzuki Wagon R updated with 6 airbags as standard

Maruti Suzuki has updated the Wagon R with 6 airbags, making it a standard feature across all variants. The MY2024 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R offered this feature only on its higher variants. The entry-level variants of the hatchback were offered with 2 airbags. Maruti sold 1,98,451 units of the Wagon R in FY24-25, making it the highest-selling car in India.

2025 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: What’s new?

All variants of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R are now available with 6 airbags. Additionally, the lap-style seatbelt for the rear-centre passenger has been replaced with a 3-point mechanism. Other safety features of the hatchback include an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, central locking, rear parking sensors, and more.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R packs a 7-inch Smartplay Studio infotainment system with smartphone navigation technology, a 4-speaker sound system, steering-mounted controls and an auto gear shift.

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R continues to be offered in 3 powertrain options. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is only available on the ZXi Plus variants, producing a maximum power output of 88hp and 113Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre petrol engine on the lower engine puts out 66hp and 89Nm. In a CNG guide, this engine produces 56hp and 82Nm. The non-CNG models are now E20-compliant. This means that the hatchback can run on E20 fuel – 20% ethanol and 80% petrol.

Final Thoughts

Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R start at Rs 5.65 lakh and go up to Rs 8.50 lakh. Maruti crossed the 10 lakh sales landmark for the Wagon R in July 2024. The hatchback rivals the Renault Kwid, Maruti Swift, Maruti Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and Tata Tiago in India.
