Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has lost a few features from its lineup. The rear defogger, which was previously only available on the top-spec trims, has been completely removed from the Wagon R lineup. Prices for the hatchback still start at Rs 5.54 lakh. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is one of the best-selling cars in India.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: New changes explained

Maruti’s best-selling hatchback and one of the most popular cars in the country has lost the rear defogger from its lineup. The feature was only available on the top-spec ZXi Plus variant of the Wagon R. This variant is available in manual and automatic options. The rear defogger heats up the rear windshield to thaw out the frost from the glass, leading to better visibility.

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R retains features like the 7-inch Smartplay Studio infotainment system with smartphone navigation technology, a 4-speaker sound system, steering-mounted controls and an auto gear shift. It also comes with 12+ safety features including two airbags, a speed alert system, seat belt pre-tensioners, force limiters, seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors, hill hold assist and more. The hill-hold control is offered with the AGS variants only.

There are three powertrain options on offer. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is only available on the ZXi Plus variants, producing a maximum power output of 88hp and 113Nm of torque. The 1.0-litre petrol engine on the lower engine puts out 66hp and 89Nm. In a CNG guide, this engine produces 56hp and 82Nm.

Conclusion 

Maruti Suzuki has also removed mild hybrid tech from the manual variants of the Brezza. The compact SUV has also lost Electronic Stability Program andHill Hold Assist on its CNG variant. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R rivals Renault Kwid, Maruti Swift, Maruti Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and Tata Tiago in India.
