Maruti Suzuki to hike prices of all cars next month

After announcing a 4% price hike in December 2024, Maruti Suzuki is set to bring it into effect next month. On February 1, prices of all Maruti Suzuki cars in India will be hiked between Rs 1,500 – Rs 32,500. The automaker has cited a rise in input costs and operational expenses as the reason behind the hike. Maruti is also gearing up to launch its first electric vehicle, e Vitara, in India in March.

Maruti Suzuki: Price hike explained

Out of all the Maruti Suzuki offerings, the Celerio hatchback will receive the biggest price hike. Buyers will have to pay Rs 32,500 extra for the hatchback from next month. The Innova HyCross-based MPV, Invicto, will get pricier by Rs 30,000. The Ertiga and XL6 MPV will be dearer by Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Meanwhile, popular Arena offerings like Wagon R, Swift, and Baleno will be pricier by Rs 5,000 – Rs 15,000.

Among the SUVs, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will receive a price hike of Rs 25,000 while the Brezza will be dearer by Rs 20,000. Maruti’s lifestyle SUV, Jimny, will cost Rs 1,500 more while the Fronx SUV will be pricier by Rs 5,500.

In other news, Maruti Suzuki had a fine showing at the Bharat Global Mobility Expo last week. The automaker showcased the e Vitara electric SUV for the first time in India after it made its debut in Milan last year. The e Vitara looks very similar to the concept it is based on. The eVX concept made an appearance in the last two editions of the Bharat Global Mobility Expo. The EV has a bold stance and stands at dimensions of 4,272mm x 1,800mm x 1,640mm with a 2,700mm wheelbase. The front fascia of the SUV features tri-slash LED DRLs, edgy headlamps, and an upright nose.

The electric SUV features a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster on its dashboard. Other features include a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, rear seat armrest with cup holder, connected car tech, a fixed-glass sunroof, and more. On the safety front, the SUV gets 7 airbags, an Electronic Parking Brake, All-Disc Brakes, e-Call functionality, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and more. There is a Level 2 ADAS package onboard as well.

Conclusion

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will launch in India in March. This will be followed by a global launch in May. 50% of the units produced will be shipped overseas. It will be priced under Rs 20 lakh. e Vitara’s Toyota cousin, Urban Cruiser EV will also launch in India later this year.
