Maruti Suzuki Swift’s engine and mileage specs leaked

The engine and mileage specs of the next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift have been leaked ahead of its launch on May 9. Bookings for the hatchback were opened yesterday for a token amount of Rs 11,000. The new leaked images of the Swift’s brochure confirm the presence of the Z Series engine and reveal its power and mileage specs.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: Better mileage, greater safety

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z Series petrol engine. The current-gen Swift is powered by a 4-cylinder K Series engine that produces a maximum power output of 90hp and 113Nm. The leaked brochure images reveal that the new Z Series engine puts out 82hp and 112Nm. While its power specs may be lower than the outgoing model, the new Swift offers an improved mileage of 25.72kmpl. It remains to be seen whether this number is for the manual or the automatic variant of the hatchback.

Talking about transmission, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will be made available in manual and AMT configurations. While there was some speculation regarding a CVT gearbox on the Swift, those rumours have now been put to bed.

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift will also get some important feature upgrades. Top-spec variants of the hatchback will flaunt a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, USB Type-C ports, rear AC vents, and an Arkamys sound system. There are some useful safety upgrades on the Swift as well. The automaker will offer the hatchback with six airbags as standard across all variants. The Japanese model of the Swift gets ADAS tech as well.

The next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2023. The India-spec model of the hatchback will retain the design of the globally unveiled model. The soon-to-be-outgoing Swift is currently priced between Rs 6.24 lakh – Rs 9.28 lakh. Upon launch, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift will rival the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Kwid, Tata Altroz, and Tata Tiago.
