Maruti Suzuki Swift: What to expect?
The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift refines the design language of its predecessor while retaining its signature look. The next-gen hatchback flaunts angular LED projector headlamps, a wider grille, and a new bumper. Along the sides, the 2024 Swift gets a new design for the alloy wheels. The design for the rear bumper and LED tail lamps has been revised as well.
The interior layout of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift looks inspired by the Baleno and Fronx. The Japan-spec version of the Swift features a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system which has support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The switchgear, HVAC controls, and steering wheel design are not dissimilar from the outgoing model. The Japan-spec version rocks premium features like wireless charging, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, an electric sunroof, and an ADAS package. These features will not be available on the Indian model. However, Maruti will provide safety features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and three-point seatbelts for rear passengers as standard across all variants.
Under the hood, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. This engine will be slightly tweaked in the India-spec version of the hatchback and will produce an output similar to the K12 engine. The latter produces 90hp and 113Nm. The Z12E engine puts out 82hp and 103Nm.
Commenting on the booking announcement, Mr Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The Swift has been an iconic brand for Maruti Suzuki, one that has evolved with changing times to redefine customer expectations. Its 29 lakh strong customer base and numerous awards & accolades are a testament to how the iconic Swift has gone from strength to strength. The Epic New Swift stays true to its much-loved sporty DNA, while balancing new-age expectations of environment friendliness with low emissions. As always, the next-generation Swift is all set to create new benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment and further the concept of the ‘Joy of Mobility’ in its own right.”
