Maruti Suzuki eVX spotted testing in Europe

After initial spy shots of the Maruti Suzuki eVX emerged from Poland last month, the electric SUV was spotted testing in Europe yet again. The eVX was showcased earlier this year at Auto Expo 2023 in New Delhi. It is set to be Maruti Suzuki’s debut all-electric offering in India and is set to launch in 2025.

Maruti Suzuki eVX: What do the spy shots suggest?

The eVX that was spotted in Europe recently was covered in heavy black camouflage, just like the test module that was spotted in Poland. It remains unclear whether this is the production-spec model of the SUV. From the rear, the two test units spotted so far look very similar to the concept model that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023.

Like the concept model, the test units of the Maruti Suzuki eVX do not feature traditional door handles. Both the rear door handles are positioned on the C-pillar of the vehicle. Up front, the eVX gets a flat nose, edgy headlamps, and a closed-off grille. The profile of the SUV is marked by the sloping roofline that gives it a coupe-like look. Thick, muscular lines run along the sides of the SUV.

Inside, Maruti Suzuki eVX gets a twin-screen setup for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster. The rotary dial is housed in the floating centre console. The steering gets a two-spoke design. In terms of features, the eVX will get a 360-degree camera along with an ADAS package.

Maruti Suzuki eVX will be underpinned by a new platform that has been designed for future Maruti Suzuki EVs. The electric SUV will get a 60kWh battery pack on the concept that offers a driving range of 550km. The entry-level variants of the eVX could feature a smaller battery pack.

Conclusion

Toyota will also launch its own version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX as a part of its global alliance with the automaker. It remains unclear when Toyota will launch its version of the electric SUV. In India, Maruti Suzuki eVX will rival the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming electric versions of the existing midsize SUVs from Citroen and Hyundai.
