Maruti Suzuki e Vitara unveiled in Japan

In India, the EV will start reaching customers at the end of September.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara made its global debut in Milan, Italy, last year. In January 2025, the electric SUV was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi, India. Now, the EV has been unveiled in Suzuki’s home territory, Japan. The e Vitara was displayed at the Shinkansen ticket gate of Hamamatsu station in Japan. The SUV will be exported to Japan from India.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Maruti’s first EV goes global

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is based on the eVX concept. It stands at dimensions of 4,272mm x 1,800mm x 1,640mm and has a 2,700mm wheelbase. Its front fascia features an upright nose, a shut-off grille, edgy headlamps, and tri-slash LED DRLs. The door handles are mounted on the C-pillar. The charging port is located on the rear fender. At the back, the LED tail lamps also follow the tri-slash design pattern. The Japan-spec model looks identical to its Indian counterpart.

Inside, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara features a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster. Its premium two-spoke steering wheel is integrated with controls. Other features include a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, rear seat armrest with cup holder, connected car tech, a fixed-glass sunroof, and more. On the safety front, the electric SUV gets 7 airbags, an Electronic Parking Brake, All-Disc Brakes, e-Call functionality, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and more. There is a Level 2 ADAS package onboard as well.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Maruti’s first EV goes global

There are 2 battery pack options on offer for the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara – 49kWh and 61kWh. These battery packs can function within a -30°C – 60°C temperature range. The electric motor is mounted on the front axle and produces a maximum power output of 143hp on the 49kWh variants. The 61kWh variants put out 173hp. These variants have a 500km driving range.

Final Thoughts

The delivery rollout of Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to commence in India at the end of September. The electric SUV will go on sale in Europe and Japan in the coming months. In India, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Nexon EV, and MG Windsor EV.
