Maruti Suzuki has dropped the first official teaser of its upcoming all-electric SUV. The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will make its Indian debut at the Bharat Mobility Show next month. The concept model of the SUV, eVX, was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. The e Vitara was unveiled in Milan last month. Following its showcase at the Bharat Mobility Show, the SUV will go on sale in March 2025.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Coming soon on Indian roads

The teaser drop for Maruti Suzuki e Vitara reveals its tri-slash LED DRLs and gives a glimpse of its front fascia. Since the SUV made its debut in Italy last month, we know that it will retain the design of its concept model. The e Vitara has an upright nose and edgy LED headlamps. Since it is an EV, its grille has been shut off. While the eVX flaunted sharp character lines along the sides, the e Vitara takes a more subtle approach. These lines are more rounded on the production-spec model. The rear door handles are mounted on the C-pillars. At the back, the LED tail lamps follow the design language of the LED DRLs.

While Maruti Suzuki has not revealed any details about the interior layout of the e Vitara, it won’t differ a lot from its international model. The floating touchscreen infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster are fused together into one unit. The centre console sports a glossy black finish. The two-spoke steering wheel has a flat bottom and integrated controls. Other features include automatic climate control (single zone), electronic parking brake, multiple drive modes, hill descent control, wireless charging, ADAS, and more.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be made available in 2 battery variants – 49kWh and 61kWh. The front-mounted electric motor produces a maximum power output of 144hp on the 49kWh battery variant and 174hp on the 61kWh variant. Both variants produce 189Nm of torque. In an AWD avatar, the electric SUV produces 184hp and 300Nm. The automaker has not revealed the range specs as of now.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The e VITARA is a testament of our unwavering commitment to sustainable mobility and technological innovation. With decades of automotive expertise, we have combined advanced electric technology with a customer-first approach to deliver something truly transformative. At Maruti Suzuki, we have always believed that to promote EV adoption, we need to create a holistic ecosystem that simplifies customers’ battery electric vehicle ownership journey.”

Conclusion

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be manufactured at the automaker’s production facility in Gujarat and retailed through the automaker’s Nexa outlets. Prices for the SUV will be revealed upon launch. It will rival the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
