Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets 6 airbags as a standard feature

Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been updated with 6 airbags as a standard safety feature. Previously, this feature was only available on the top-spec Zeta and Alpha trims of the hatchback. Its Toyota sibling, Glanza, got this update last week. Maruti has confirmed that the prices of the Baleno will be hiked by 0.5% following this update. The hatchback was crash tested by the Bharat NCAP last month and secured a 4-star safety rating.

2025 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: What’s new?

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has a decent set of standard safety features. These include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, Brake Assist, ISOFIX anchorages for child seats, and 3-point seatbelt reminders for all passengers. The top-spec trims are equipped with a 360-degree camera, auto IVRM, speed-sensitive auto door locking, high-speed warning alert, reverse parking camera, and other features.

When it comes to instrumentation and convenience features, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno flaunts a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Heads Up Display. The Suzuki Connect suite on the hatchback offers over 40 connected car tech features, including remote access and control, remote alarm, find my car, stolen vehicle alert, stolen vehicle tracking, tow alert, vehicle location sharing, geo-fencing, and more.

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine produces a maximum power output of 88hp and 113Nm of torque. It can be mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The manual variants offer a mileage of 22.35kmpl while the AMT variants return 22.94kmpl. In a CNG configuration, the hatchback offers a mileage of 30.61km/kg. The CNG powertrain is available on the Delta and Zeta variants. It does not come with an AMT gearbox.

Final Thoughts

As mentioned earlier, Maruti has confirmed that the Baleno will receive a 0.5% price hike. However, it is not yet known whether this price hike will apply to all variants or the updated trims only. As things stand, prices for the hatchback start at Rs 6.70 lakh and go up to Rs 9.92 lakh. It rivals the likes of Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, and Hyundai i20.
