Mahindra Thar Earth Edition: What’s new?

Here is the price list for all variants of the new Earth Edition of the Mahindra Thar.

Powertrain (LX) Price
Petrol MT 4WD Rs 15.40 lakh
Petrol AT 4WD Rs 16.99 lakh
Diesel MT 4WD Rs 16.15 lakh
Diesel AT 4WD Rs 17.60 lakh

Along the exterior, the Mahindra Thar Earth Edition gets a new ‘Desert Fury’ matte paint shade. It also receives exclusive ‘Earth’ branding on the rear fender and the 4X4 Automatic branding receives a matte finish with red accents on the black lettering. The ‘Mahindra Thar’ branding is also finished in matte black. The OVRMs and grille receive body-coloured accents as well.

Inside, the Earth Edition gets a similar colour theme as its exterior. The upholstery flaunts a beige and black colour pattern. The headrests have graphics in the shape of sand dunes on them. The steering wheel, AC vents, door pads, and centre console also receive special accents with Mahindra branding. The steering wheel rocks the new Mahindra ‘Twin Peaks’ logo.

Every unit of the Mahindra Thar Earth Edition will receive an identification plate with the unit number on it. This points towards the Earth Edition being a limited edition model, but Mahindra has not announced it officially.

Under the hood, the Earth Edition of the Mahindra Thar sticks with the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-diesel powertrains. It is only available with AWD (4X4) configuration. The 2.0-litre petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 152hp and 300Nm of torque. The diesel engine puts out 132hp and 300Nm. Both engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Conclusion

The new Earth Edition will not only boost the sales of the 3-door Thar, but it will also ease the stress of pending orders. As we mentioned earlier, the 5-door Thar is also set to arrive in the coming months. Currently, the Mahindra Thar rivals other lifestyle SUVs in Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
