Mahindra BE 6 gets a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP

Mahindra BE 6 has received a 5-star safety rating from the Bharat NCAP. BNCAP used the top-spec Pack Three B79 variant of the SUV for the crash tests. The 5-star safety rating applies to all variants of the electric SUV. The XEV 9e was also tested alongside the BE 6 and received a similar safety rating. The newly-launched Skoda Kylaq has also secured 5 stars in the crash tests.

Mahindra BE 6: BNCAP crash test results explained

Mahindra BE 6 scored 31.97 points out of a maximum of 32 in the Adult Occupant Protection test. The electric SUV showed good protection to the driver’s head, neck, chest, and right leg in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test. The passenger’s head, neck, chest, and legs showed good protection. The SUV was awarded 15.97 points out of 16 in this test. In the Side Movable Deformable Barrier test, the SUV scored the maximum possible points (16).

In the Child Occupant Protection test, Mahindra BE 6 scored 45 points out of a possible 49. The SUV scored the maximum possible points in the Dynamic (24) and CRS installation tests (12). It secured a Vehicle assessment score of 9 points out of a possible 13. BNCAP tested 3-year-old and 18-month-old child dummies in a rear-facing child seat attached with ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg.

Mahindra BE 6 rocks safety features like 7 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, a Side Head Protection System, a Pedestrian Protection System, Seat Belt Reminders, a 360-degree camera, a VisionX Augmented Reality Heads-up Display (HUD), TPMS, Blind View Monitor, secure 360 live view and recording functionality, an intelligent electronic brake booster, electronic parking brake, front fog lamps, cornering lamps, auto booster lamps and a Level 2 ADAS package.

Conclusion

Prices for Mahindra BE 6 start at Rs 18.90 lakh and go up to Rs 26.90 lakh. It joins XEV 9e, Thar ROXX, XUV 3XO and XUV400 in Mahindra’s portfolio of 5-star rated cars. The BE 6 rivals Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV.
